What I do, no matter how I make a yo-yo, is to pull the thread to ruffle, tie it off and then slip the thread through an edge -- leaving a sufficient amount for whipping together another yo-yo.

It means each yo-yo has a tail ... but it&#039;s better (for me) to have the tail ready for use, instead of having to take another piece of thread, knot, and whip, and knot again.
