Around mid-late September every year, colors begin a dazzling dance across the desert mesa.
Here are a few pics taken last week, just a few miles from where we live:

My fall looks very much like yours. We live in the northernmost reach of the desert you live in. Trace your desert north on the map and it ends in south central British Columbia. Those purple flowers are fall asters; I’ll send you the botanical name if you like. I have rabbit brush, antelope brush and some small sage here. I even have small prickly pear in my back yard.
I was in your little town a long time ago. I bought a silver and turquoise necklace from a nice shop in a very shady spot on the right hand side going south-ish. I have very nice memories of your town. Sue in Penticton, BC
Hi Tracy, I am very glad because the patchwork gave me a lot of new friends!
As you see I am from Brazil and if you mey know we are on spring time. It is an extremely rainy time. São Paulo is a very big town as New York (I lived there for two years)As soon as possible I mail some photos. Thanks for you letters and have a nice week. Patricia
Your Autumn is very pretty! But you should see “MY” Autumn up here in the Northwest (Seattle). It looks like Mother Nature spilled gold, red, and orange
and set it on fire! It’s absolutely breath taking.
Hi Tracey
We are moving to NM in 2 weeks from freezing MA! I can’t wait and your pictures make me realize why we are undertaking such a huge step (retirement and children are the motives). I can’t wait! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Tracey
Thank you for sharing your pictures with us. New Mexico is beautiful!!! I live on Long Island, NY. Our colors are just begining. Aren’t we blest to live in a beautiful country?
Thanks, Kathy
So pretty and soooo different from New York state!
I forget that not everyone has Autumn as we do, and I bet you don’t have clingy dampness either!

Beautiful, soft colors…..makes me want to finish my current painting projects so that I could start at least one painting of the New Mexico beauty! I live in WV and our trees should be at their peak in a couple of weeks…bright orange, yellow and red. ‘Loud’compared to NM but still a sight to behold! I may not have the time to put the brush to paper but thank goodness God never puts his brush away!
Very pretty pictures. We’ve always like to go to New Mexico. Love the Purple Wild Flowers Picture, great for desktop.
Thank you for the wonderful, colorful pictures of the desert. It is always fun to see the different parts of the states and see what they look like in the fall. I am so use to the elm and oak trees that turn colors not thinking that the desert turns colors also in the fall. Thanks, Anne
Thank you for sharing your autumn 2009 pictures of the Desert Mesa, New Mexico the colors are pretty. Here in New Hampshire our fall colors are oranges, yellows, reds, some greens and brown. It is nice to that fall can and is different else where.
Thank you again,
Diana
Hi Tracy–thanks for sharing these pictures–I am in ND and i have visited my sister and husband who winter in western AZ so always enjoy scenes from the desert. We have had a very cool summer with lots of moisture so this prairie country stayed green all summer and fall.
We used to live in Alamogordo – beautiful country side and wonderful Fall colors. Miss that in Florida – where I now live, the changing leaves. Enoy!
