Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta 2009

Unfortunately, weather issues combined with business and family commitments prevented me from getting the balloon pics I was hoping for this year.  Tomorrow morning they will fly away (weather permitting) for another year.

Here are some of the shots I was able to capture on a rather hazy day – click thumbnails to view larger images:

Tracy! Thanks for posting the great pictures & the quilt shops you recommended me visit while in Rio Rancho were great!! I loved the Quilt Ole’ the best!! The owner of the shop was very, very friendly and gave me a zillion ideas to take home with me! I was so thrilled to find the yarn shop there too & found a book I’ve been searching for to crochet & felt purses!! I got some sewing patterns and will have a ball creating now! I came home with 5 patterns & other goodies! In fact, I found a pattern from a quilt shop that is in the same town I grew up in! Interesting! We went to the balloon fiesta Sunday morning & the craft show the day before. Wish my budget & figure would have allowed me to buy more!! So many talented crafters, so little money!!! Again, thanks for the info! Our trip was great!

Thanks for the pictures of the Balloon Festival pictures. We drove through Albuquerque twice during a Festival and the balloons are a sight to see! When we lived in NW Colorado there were balloons at Steamboat Springs each year. My favorite was the Carrousel that I got a really good picture of when it landed near the main highway into town. I like the Smiling Sun that you posted. I want you to know I really do enjoy the pictures and items about your part of the country. I also live in the desert in SW Nevada.

Thanks for sharing. We wanted to be there this year but something came up. Great pictures. They have hot air balloons in Natchez, Mississippi also this month and the town is very historic and interesting to visit. We go almost every year.
