Mmm…mmm…Maggies!
I love this new LazyGirl pattern. Maggies are sew easy and cute. And addicting. I would have had dozens more finished but I kept tripping myself up playing with fabric/lining choices.
What I love most about Maggie? I love her versatility — you can carry all sorts of little treasures inside a Maggie. That and I’m planning to give a lot of gift-cards for Christmas this year (to teachers, adult children, friends). Maggie will make the perfect personalized presentation.
I decided that I love, love, LOVE the look of the fabric yo-yo as the flap embellishment. For the small size Maggie, I made an “extra-small” fabric yo-yo using the Extra Small Clover Quick Yo-Yo Maker. For the large size Maggie, I made a small fabric yo-yo using the Small Clover Quick Yo-Yo Maker.

Hi Jeannie, you could use a ring or ribbon tab (on the Maggie) if you had a clip or clasp of some sort inside your purse, on your jacket or other item. Hope that helps. Hugs, Tracy
Hi, just loved looking at all your Maggies. I just got my pattern and was cruisin’ and lookin’ at others before I started. I understand the usefulness of he swivel clip, but cannot figure out how you would “use” the ring or just a ribbon tab???
Love the yo-yo’s for all the Maggies. It really makes it look classic.
I use them as embellishments whenever I can.
Great idea!
Seeing what everyone is doing with their Maggies (my youngest daughter is named Maggie) I can’t wait to get my pattern from you, Tracy. I’m feeling quite excited about this little bag and I’m going to get my 3 girls to help make some for their friends for Christmas presents. I’ve already started to raid my stash looking for fabrics to make them up in. And I’m going to have to make some Miranda bags (both sizes) for my girls – they keep permanently borrowing all my bags, so I need to get these made for Christmas as well.
Kristy, don’t be surprised if you find yourself suddenly addicted to Maggie. Making Maggies is just too darn much fun!
Thank you for the inspiration! I received my Maggie pattern last week and I’m hoping to spend some QT with the sewing machine this weekend. I just love this project…I’m hoping to make a few as gifts and possibly make one for myself to carry my I-touch. I can’t wait to get started.
Tracy, you do such good work; these are adorable! Thanks for sharing, and for your always uplifting, inspiring words.
from a google search
Amazon kindle size
Size: 7.5-in. x 5.3-in. x 0.7-in.
and a comparison of Kindle and Kindle 2 sizes indicates the “2″ is this size
8 x 5.5 x .36 -in.
does this help?
i kept falling off the site
denise/deBRAT who has yet to order her Maggie pattern
[...] Tracy Chapman of Sew Thankful posted some of the Maggies she’s made lately. You can see them at her Sew Thankful blog here. [...]
Hi Autumn,
The pattern says the two finished sizes are: Large size 4 1/2” x 5” and Small size 3 1/4” x 4”.
I have made both, as shown in the pics above. They came out true to pattern size.
Hope that helps.
Tracy
Will the Maggie fit a Kindle? No, I don’t know what size a Kindle is, but I think they come in various sizes. Maybe 5×8 or so? Has anyone made one? Thanks for any input.

I am even more excited to receive my Maggie pattern after seeing your beautiful sets, the yo-yo accent is just perfect!
Hurry, postperson, hurry!
Sally, what a wonderful idea for Thanksgiving afternoon with your daughters! I hope you post some pictures!
FANTASTIC idea, Sally! That sounds like a wonderful time for you and your daughters.
My grown daughters and I will be doing Maggies after Thanksgiving dinner, while the guys watch the football games. We thought it would be a pleasant way to enjoy the afternoon.
So cute and what a great idea with the YoYo!!!
I think we may have a Maggie addiction going here—- me too.
Adorable! A great idea and perfect timing for Christmas. They are little and look easy, so probably sew up quick. My kind of project!
