Out on the trail today in New Mexico…

There are several multi-use trails around here…for walking, hiking, biking and running. Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time on my bike, but today I found myself in a funk and in need of a hike.  So, I picked up my pack and tossed in a water bottle, then grabbed the walking stick and camera.

Here are some of the things I saw – click images to open larger image in a new window

    Good morning Tracy,

Just needed to finally take the time to say “hello” from Michigan and thanks for the great job you do not only with your website; but with your customer service. You truly make all of us feel as if we are part of your family when you share of yourself and Jeff and the boys. My husband and I took a long walk after church on our newly developed bike/walking/blading trail around our little community. It is a beautiful spot to be in nature and feel good about stuff. Keep up the great job and I look forward to being a customer for life.

    Diane

P.S. Thanks for giving glory to God through your efforts.

Thankful for your funky day, because you were meant to take a hike and take all those wonderful pictures of the desert when it’s in bloom. Now you get to share them all with us. How lucky for us for you funky day!!! I live in the Pacific Northwest (Washington) We have lots of TREES!!!!!! Only desert is east of the mountains ( Cascades). Don’t get over there too often.

Thank you Tracy, I enjoy your refreshing, God centered views. We live in Lansdale PA, on the eastern coast & I love to read about your family in New Mexico. I have a pen pal in Hayden, Az & have correcponded with her for about 55 years!

How do we know that Larry isn’t Larissa? Just kidding! May God Bless you & yours.

Thanks for the pictures! They bring back memories of the years we lived in NM..Thoreau, Gallup, Deming and the places we vacationed all over the state.
New Mexico feels more like home than Texas ever will, our younger son moved back there not many years after he finished school and probably will be there the rest of his life!
Our part of the desert hasn’t had much moisture to make things bloom…I’m hoping it will soon…but we do have LOTS of “Larrys” to my dogs delight!

How wonderful your world is, thanks for sharing. I’m used to tall redwoods
and it was so good to see something else of such beauty.

  7. Tracy says:

I did a quick google search on skinks…looks like you’re probably right. He was a beauty, but I wouldn’t dream of bringing any wild creature home. I like to shoot ‘em (with my camera) and leave them undisturbed.

  8. Joyce says:

I believe your Larry is a skink. A really beautiful creature but quite a little character , so don’t bring him home!!

I too had a really bad day. We just lost my Dad of 90 years old two weeks ago and were moving our Mom into an assisted living facility and trying to clean out their apt and getting rid of memories and things from our lifetime and on top of that, we are about to lose our dog, Dakota, (an alaskan malamute that is 8 years old). She has not been doing well all week and we’re sure she is about to pass too. Just alot to take in a short time. Your email was uplifting to me. I should have been away from my family as I wasn’t a pleasant person yesterday but couldn’t skip out on the work. Thanks again.

Thank you for sharing your hike with us. I live in WV and I have a lot of Larry’s, if he is a salamander. Mine have florescent blue on the back and my Pomeranian goes wild when she sees one. they used to scare me, but I have become used to them and have begun to actually look for them when I am out around my pond. Your Larry looks a bit larger than what mine are here.

  11. Trish says:

Thanks for sharing your hike. I never realized the desert could be so full of life and beauty.

Lovely pictures of your flora and fauna, Tracey. Somewhat different to what we have in England this beautiful sunny Sunday Morning but the hedgerows are full of wild flowers and our cottage gardens are at their peak. Glad you appreciate such things: I am sure you came back from your hike thinking ‘ ah yes, life is as it should be, all is well. Thanks for your regular postings and hugs to you an yours. What a wonderful place to walk or hike, don’t do much around here as we are frequented with visits from little, no big black and brown bears, some with cubs.We have visited many times in Arizonia but never made it to New Mexico. We do love the desert in the early spring. It is so peaceful and calm. You can’t help not feeling better about yourself . We live in British Columbia, Canada ,in the Rockies so the desert is a specail place for us to visit for a change in climate and scenery. Keep sending pictures as I am always dreaming about more visiting your New Mexico!

LOVELY photos! Funny you say you were ‘in a funk’ yesterday….I was too….for some reason very agitated! I hate that feeling, as it doesn’t happen often. Glad you’re better….I am too…. I love your site….
