Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta 2009

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

Unfortunately, weather issues combined with business and family commitments prevented me from getting the balloon pics I was hoping for this year.  Tomorrow morning they will fly away (weather permitting) for another year.

Here are some of the shots I was able to capture on a rather hazy day – click thumbnails to view larger images:

These pictures were taken Saturday morning, 10/4/08; a cloudy, hazy morning with beautiful
balloons filling the sky against the backdrop of the Sandia Mountains.

With almost 700 balloons from all over the world participating, the next 9 days are sure to be fun and inspiration filled.

The weather report (so far) is not promising for tomorrow, but I am hopeful that a couple days this coming week will provide better lighting and bluer skies.

If you’ve never experienced Balloon Fiesta, I can only say that for me it’s a glorious treat for the senses.  It’s a delightful dance of patchwork, color and graceful movement.  Beautiful balloons hanging like jewels in the sky offering a grand and artful silence punctuated by blasts from the propane burners.
